New York CTBUH conference: Winning the student prize 2015

26 October 2015: Wow! the Nottingham team have won the CTBUH competition!
Having gone to it thinking that it's nice to take part, but we don't have a chance of winning, we felt better after making the presentations a couple of days earlier.
On the final day of the conference, the first event of the day was to announce the winners. Nottingham are the winners!!

Sitting nervously in the front row, waiting for the announcement, Tianyi, Teng and DNC put on a cheerful look for the camera.

The girls are presented with the cheque for $6,000 - highly deserved!

The winners Teng Li and Tianyi Geng stand in front of the winning panel. Sadly Ren Nhan Le Trong was unable to come to New York to share in the joy.

Happy happy happy to be winners of the competition: Bjarke Ingels in the background.

Enjoyed hearing Bjarke Ingels close the conference with a stirring lecture about his work; and get a selfie after the lecture!

The New York team practice their presentation with our students

9 October 2015: The TRT group, who designed a Vertical Micro-University Campus for Blackfriars, London are finalists in the CTBUH International Students Competition.
They came to the Tall Building studio to practice their presentation in front of the 2015-2016 cohort of students, to ensure that it made good sense. This will be done in New York, 26 October.
In the picture are Nanh Trong Le Ren and DNC, and Xuan Luo (not part of TRT) and Tianyi Geng who is the one who will do the verbal presentation. (Teng Li was away for the photo)

Exhibition at the start of term

September 2015: we always leave the previous semester's exhibition up on show until the new term starts. This wonderful exhibition will have to come down in about two weeks. There are some useful resources here of models from Hong Kong produced by Philip Oldfield's group.

Start of term, briefings and 3-D induction

Week 1 September 2015: the new students have turned up for the tall building introduction module. We have 11 in the module and 17 in the lecture course.
